System prompt
Operator-level instructions that define an agent's role, rules and tools before the conversation begins.
The system prompt sets persona, constraints, output format, tool usage rules and safety boundaries. For agents it is the primary lever on behaviour and typically the longest, most-iterated artefact in the codebase. Tool descriptions are effectively part of it and deserve the same care.
